Hello, Sander here.
I am a photographer based in Brussels
and I just love my job.
Exciting photo-editors book me for their portraits and stories.

In my photography I focus on humans. The human side of life and news is what interests me. General news, or background stories on politics, nature and social issues keep me alive.
I also work as a teacher
and shoot portraits for clients.
In my spare time I create artworks using paint, wax, clay and do graphic works and installations using etching and lithographic techniques.
Next to this I'm into genealogy, art, a volunteer in some organisations, and I love sailing and biking.
I try to live a balanced live, doing most of my assignments by bicycle or public/shared transport and shooting only one or few assignments per day.

My journey as an artist
PERSONAL
Concerning fine art photography I focus both on on analog photography and the use of Artificial Intelligence. My work is mainly about the human condition, it's place in this world. In installations, graphic work and photography Man comes back in several versions. Wether it is in handmade expressive lithographs or in atmospheric cinematic stories through street photography, decay and the current state of mankind is in every image.
I grew up in the woods. First in a small village in the Netherlands, later in Groningen, a city in the North. As a young boy I worked as a sailing- and windsurfing teacher all holidays. I started studying Cultural Anthropology, did my duty in the army, worked in a camera store for years, and finally went back to school learning all ins and outs of photography at the Royal Art academy in The Hague.After shooting commercial photography for over 10 years in Rotterdam I moved to Belgium in 2007. Here I re-focused on working in photojournalism and portrait photography.While working for the media, I also visited another art academy, to develop my graphic skills like etchings and lithography.
Now I am mainly working around Artificial Intelligence, NFT's, bureaucracy, migration and other subjects that interest me where I use photography, graphic art, video and installations.
I'm a happy freelance photographer, an artist and also a teacher at my own creative organisation called KUNSTKOT.BE and for some other organisations in Brussels and around.
